Infinite Variety Golf Design founder Frank Pont has been active as a Golf Course Architect since 2003. After qualifying as a civil engineer at Delft Technical University Frank worked for Shell before earning an MBA at the University of Chicago. This was followed by jobs in consulting after which he became an investment banker heading up Deutsche Bank's worldwide Telecoms team. In 2001 he left London to study Golf Course Architecture at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. There he specialized in the classic golf courses of Harry Colt and Tom Simpson, and did apprenticeships with David McLay Kidd in Ireland and Hawaii before and during his study. He has run his own highly succesfull practice from the Netherlands since then.
Currently he is working with 20 Colt, Simpson and Pennink designed classic golf courses to help them bring back the strategy and style of the original design. Furthermore he has built 4 new golf courses, is currently working on his fifth and has more than 15 ambitious projects in the pipeline.
Frank has visited more than 500 golf courses on four continents. His handicap is 8, and he is a member of four golf clubs, namely Eindhovensche (NL), Royal Spa (B), Machrihanisch (SC) and Carne Golf Links (IR).
He lives with his wife and two young sons in a CO2 neutral house near Utrecht in the Netherlands.
