About Frank Pont

Dutchman Frank Pont has been active as a Golf Course Architect since 2003. After qualifying as a civil engineer at Delft Technical University Frank worked for Shell before earning an MBA at the University of Chicago in de US. This was followed by jobs in consulting at McKinsey and Monitor Company after which he became an investment banker in London, heading up Deutsche Bank's worldwide Telecoms team. At the beginning of 2001 he left London to study Golf Course Architecture at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. During his studies Frank specialized in the classic golf courses of Harry Colt and Tom Simpson; highlight of his study was winning the design contest for renovation of the fourth hole of Swinley Forest. In addition Frank did apprenticeships with David McLay Kidd in Ireland and Hawaii before and during his study.

Frank is currently working with sixteen Colt, Simpson and Pennink designed classic golf courses to help them bring back the strategy and style of the original design. Furthermore he has so far built three new golf courses and has more than fifteen ambitious projects in the pipeline.

Frank has played more than 400 golf courses on four continents. His handicap is 8, and he is a member of four golf clubs, namely Eindhovensche (NL), Cruden Bay & Machrihanisch (SC) and Carne Golf Links (IR).
