Most green problems fall in two categories: either the grass surface is not up to standards or a flaw in the design of the surface creates playing problems.
If the grass doesn't grow well the cause is often that historically during construction the wrong build up of the green has been used. The full green renovation of Royal Hague in the end became necessay because the greens originally had been built in the 1930's using clay.
If the green surface creates problems this often means the whole green needs to be recreated. However when only the area around the green gives problems (for instance when the surface drainage does not work well) it often is sufficient to only renovate the green surrounds. This is also the case when the green complex needs to be made more natural or interesting.
