Swinley Forest is one of the best preserved courses of the many that Harry Colt designed. With its great location, topography, routing, heather-backed bunkers and great par 3's Swinley Forest is truely a classic.
The fourth, one of these superb par 3 holes, had a problem in that the back side of the green due to consolidation of the soil had shifted downward so much that it had become a problem for playability, especially during the summer months when the green surface was hard.
The club invited designs to renovate the greencomplex, and Frank's submission was chosen as the winning plan. His plan was to raise the backside of the green whilst at the same time significantly enlarging the green. Both changes were carefully selected to avoid changing the character of this unique par 3.
