Amsterdam Old Course

In 2005 Frank built three new holes for the 9 holes Amsterdam Old Course, a largely forgotten Colt/Alsion design under the skirts of Amsterdam right next to the AJAX soccer stadium

The course, which originally has 18 holes but lost 9 holes due to expansion of the neighboring railways, is probably the only course Colt built that was both on peat and below sea level, and for that reason the course is relatively flat and has raised greens and bunkers to avoid drainage problems.

Frank focussed on improving the drainage of the site by using the historic method of drainage to ditches running parallel to the holes, and built new greens and bunkers in the existing Colt style using historic photographic materials as reference.
