In 2006 Frank restored and renovated the green and the green surrounds of the famous "bathtub" green of the 14th hole at Cruden Bay.
Although Frank is strongly opposed to unneccessarily touching classic greens, in this case there was a strong need to restore the hole because the landforms had significantly changed over de last 20 years due to wind blow. During construction work it became clear that certain areas had been raised by more than a meter due to sand erosion.
Goal was to mellow the slopes of the entrance to the green back to the original situation, bring the right side green bunker more into play, move the path away from the green and finally to move the tees of the next hole (the famous blind par 3 fifteenth hole) further back so as to increase safety versus players hitting into the green of 14.
